Event Horizon: 25th Anniversary SteelBook

So. I have an interesting history of opinions about EVENT HORIZON. It was one of the top 5 movies I had been looking forward to seeing in theaters, the previews and trailers for it looked stunning, and I believed we fans were long overdue for a quality science fiction-horror story.

A good friend and I went to see it, nearly buzzing with excited anticipation. We left the theater filled with anger, feeling nothing save betrayal and bitter disappointment.

Initial DVD Release

EVENT HORIZON was originally released on DVD on December 15, 1998, and that release

20th Anniversary Special Edition Release

A 2-disc special edition DVD was released on September 20, 2017,

Collector’s Edition

There is also a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray, produced by Shout Factory and released in March 2021. This edition does seem to contain more bonus features than the new 25th Anniversary edition, and for someone like me seeking answers, I’d be tempted to get that version just for those other bonus features.

The anniversary SteelBook edition was released on August 9, 2022 from Paramount, and contains both a 4K UHD disc and a Blu-ray disc. However, the listed bonus features are only on the Blu-ray.

The bonus features listed on the SteelBook are specifically described as being “legacy content”, which confirms that all of the included bonuses were present on different previous EVENT HORIZON releases, although seemingly not all together on any single particular release.
